An Agricultural Processing Equipment Sales Representative at West Coast Companies identifies and qualifies new business while retaining and growing the existing customer base.

This direct sales position focuses on selling high-value processing equipment such as seed cleaners, dust control, treating, sorting, packaging, storage, and milling lines. An essential aspect of selling these lines includes working with our design team to bring projects from concept to life.

Seed, grain, pulse, animal feed, and fertilizer plants are our focus industries, with occasional collaborations within the brewery, recycling, and mineral industries. This position’s sales region includes southern Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, and Colorado.

General Sales Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Motivated personality that can identify, qualify, and execute new business opportunities while continuing a high level of service for existing customers.
  • Driven disposition that enjoys finding processing solutions and then working with a team to design and implement the solution into a final working processing line.
  • High level of organization to effectively follow-through on the complete sales processes, starting with the initial identification of a lead, to quoting/contracting, through the final installation and subsequent customer follow-ups.
  • Aptitude to build strong relationships with customers and industry professionals through in-person meetings, tradeshows, seminars, and other industry events.
  • Must be able to work independently in an effective manner by creating a proactive weekly and monthly schedule that includes cold calls, current customers visits/ meetings, and industry events.
  • Cold calling is a critical part of our business structure. This position requires the ability to identify and execute cold calls confidently to obtain new customers and project opportunities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, over the phone, and via computer or other electronic means.

Education / Experience / Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in business, agricultural sciences, sales/marketing, or engineering is preferred. Proven industry experience will be strongly considered.
  • Minimum 2-3 years sales experience; ideally in the seed and grain, packaging, agricultural / food processing, or other agriculture-related industries.
  • Operations experience in agricultural processing facilities or packaging facilities is ideal.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions

  • Must be able to sit for lengthy periods of time while driving.
  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods is necessary during tradeshows and site visits.
  • Occasional climbing up/down ladders is required. Must not be afraid of heights.
  • Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary for effective communication with co-workers, customers, and outside agencies, by telephone and in person.
  • Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary to safely drive company vehicles.
  • The ability to lift / carry up to fifty pounds is necessary for transporting equipment and supplies.
  • The ability to stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, and crawl is necessary for accessing equipment.
  • Good manual dexterity is necessary for technology use and equipment handling.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to manage our financials, prepare accurate statements for our company and assist with ADP payroll.

The Financial Accountant’s responsibilities largely revolve around operations in QuickBooks which include invoicing, managing tax payments, performing internal audits, and maintaining AR/AP, payroll and benefit reporting associated with payroll, budgeting, conducting cost and revenue analysis plus financial reporting. This person will act as a consultant for senior managers. Ultimately, this person will ensure all our accounting transactions comply with the law and support our company’s investments.

To be qualified for this role, you should have a degree in accounting and relevant work experience. Knowledge of the agricultural/food industry would be a benefit but not necessary.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables
  • Follow up with clients, suppliers and partners as needed
  • Track and reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Oversee ledger reconciliation
  • Participate in the payroll processes preparing benefit reporting paperwork associated with payroll
  • Review and process reimbursements
  • Update financial spreadsheets for monthly reports
  • Participate in quarterly and annual audits
  • Forecast revenue and analyze profit margins
  • Work with the President and General Manager to develop budgetary goals for specific P&L line items. Once approved, work with parties responsible for cost (i.e. Marketing, Regional Office Managers, etc..) towards meeting budgetary goals.
  • Maintain and Improve office filing system, keep records of invoices and tax payments
  • Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitor and confirm financial conditions and transactions by conducting audits; providing information.
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work areas are inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light-to-moderate background noise. This position offers a large individual office space, that allows for files to be easily accessible as well as the ability for closed door conversations. The position is full time (40 hours a week) from 8am to 5pm, Monday – Friday. Work attire is a tidy business casual.
